Algae Blooms Return to Taughannock

The park reports on their Facebook Page that their beach closed on July 7 due to a blue-green algae bloom. This was a problem last year as well. Let’s hope it is not a chronic issue this year!

  1. Things to do to make it not a chronic issue:

    1. Do research on the blooms not just hope it’s not a chronic issue.

    2. Reduce nitrogen waste and/or use.

    3. Ask an environmentalist how blooms get formed in lakes
